Who’s who Anterior
The world of dental matrices really is incredible, with a wide range of choices and brands to suit different needs and personal preference, but it isn’t half confusing! The sheer volume of options for choice can be enough to have you running for the hills, which is why the friendly team at J&S Davis have broken down the options available from leading Swiss brand, Polydentia. Today we will take a look at the Who’s who of anterior matrices.
There are two main options for anterior restorations – Unica Proximal and Unica Anterior, both of which have band variations.
Unica Proximal allows for improved control of anterior restorations. This relatively new anterior matrix removes the need to cut or modify existing posterior sectional matrices and provides a form that ensures easy and secure adaptation and fit in the anterior region, while improving visibility and operatory field access.
These stainless-steel matrices are incredibly thin at 0.03 mm and are available in two shapes (Standard and Deep), designed to fit the contour of the anterior teeth labially, palatally and proximally. Unica Proximal matrices are especially indicated for anterior restorations involving the proximal walls (Class III and IV, peg-shaped lateral incisors, diastema closures, partial and total veneering). The Unica Proximal Deep is designed for perio applications with a flat papilla.
Unica Anterior is the simple and ideal matrix for anterior restorations such as class III, IV, V, direct stratification composite veneers, and shape modifications. The placement wings allow fast and efficient matrix placement. Unica, thanks to its contoured shape, adapts correctly to the different morphologies of anterior teeth and makes it possible to restore interproximal and cervical margins at once, even in the presence of rubber-dam or gingival retraction cords, thus reducing chair-time significantly. Furthermore, Unica anterior matrix, once positioned, allows to easily visualise the final shape of the restoration. The Unica Anterior comes in Standard and Minideep.
Unica Anterior Minideep has been specifically developed to adapt to:
• maxillary and mandibular lateral incisors • mandibular central incisors • conoid teeth • triangular teeth • peg laterals • teeth with narrow cervical diameter
Often, dental care professionals choose to have a mix of both Unica Proximal and Anterior as each of benefits depending on the case. This led Polydentia to release the Unica Masterkit which includes all matrices mentioned above, as well as a variety of myWedges to be used when required.
Look no further for anterior matrices, Polydentia has you covered!
